10 Things I Wouldn’t Want For Christmas!

Christmas Lights
Hey readers,

Christmas is my most favourite time of the year so you will probably be seeing more Christmas posts on my blog! So dear friends and family, here is a list of 10 things that you definitely shouldn’t get me. Here you go:

  1.  A pet snake or spider. If you dare to get me a snake or a spider for Christmas you will be getting a lump of coal from me. My friend Jayden has a pet snake and I held him. His name is Carter… He scares the living poop out of me. Even though he’s only a garter snake. I also really hate spiders. I don’t mind the little ones but it’s the HUGE ones that scares me!
  2. A cold! Being sick on Christmas or during the holidays sounds like the worst! There isn’t much else to say about being sick other than that it sucks.
  3. Brussels sprouts, one of the worst food, in my mind. I wish they weren’t even a thing! P.S Dad,I’m still not going to eat them this Christmas.
  4. If I was to open a present and see a huge pile of homework,I think I would be pretty angry. But if I was to open a pile of homework that was about horses I think I would happy to see that homework. Never thought I would say that in my lifetime.
  5.  A dress. If you ever see me in a dress, please check my temperature! There might be a few times a year when I wear a dress (the river, beach or at a really fancy event.)
  6. You shouldn’t get me golf equipment. I absolutely HATE golf, you might know this already by reading my alphabet of me post. I only like driving the golf carts.
  7. You probably shouldn’t get me a scarf. I don’t mind scarfs but I would rather not get one for Christmas. I don’t like how they feel like they are strangling you.
  8. Please don’t get me glue. I am really bad at gluing! I get it absolutely everywhere. So that’s why you shouldn’t get me glue.
  9.   A goose. If you know me then you would know that I love almost all animals. I love farms, but there is this one animal that drives me absolutely crazy! It’ the geese with there non-stop honking. They are quite vicious. They chase you and hiss.
  10. Last but not least, don’t make my Christmas present a picture with a mall Santa.  (MOM!) They creep me out. That’s all I have to say about that one, I think you can see why I despise mall Santa.

What would you not want for Christmas?

Have a wonderful day,

My Favourite Christmas Movies

Hey readers,

Ahh!It’s getting to be that time… When every store is playing Christmas music, all the ads on T.V. are Christmas related and the children start writing their Christmas lists. I love Christmas movies because when it’s cold out you can get your warm blankets (don’t forget the popcorn)and start the Christmas movie binge watch. So here are my top five favourite Christmas movies.
P.S they aren’t in order and a bit of a spoiler alert for any one who hasn’t watched these movies.

1.How The Grinch Stole Christmas

I think that this movie is really funny. Did you know that the budget for this movie was 123 million dollars.  I really do wonder how much time every single person spent in a makeup chair. Especially Jim Carrey because he had to play the Grinch.

2. Elf
Imagine seeing a fully grown man walking around down town New York doing weird things like hopping on the road like a bunny. I think that if I ate Buddy The Elf’s spaghetti I would throw up. If you don’t know what his spaghetti is, it’s a plate of spaghetti, marshmallows, M&Ms, chocolate syrup, maple syrup, pop tarts and sprinkles.

3.Home Alone

Wouldn’t it be pretty scary if your parents left for a trip and you got left at home? I think that his creative traps are amazing. Just the thought of two weirdos trying to get in to your house is creepy. But the way he handles it is very funny!

4.Charlie Brown Christmas

This one is based on the comic strip the peanuts. Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree is a very iconic image in the movie. It was released on December 91965 with a budget of 96 000 dollars.

5.Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer

In this one from 1989 is about Santa’s lead reindeer having to save the day. I love the really old vibe of this movie compared to the newer movies. This is one of my favourites because it’s a great classic!

I hope you enjoyed this post about Christmas movies! Do you have any favourite movies? Do we have any in common?

Amy Millar: Confident Canterer

Hey readers,

Clip Clop, Clip Clop! Can you communicate with a half ton animal that doesn’t speak your language? Amy Millar can! Amy Millar is someone that I think is a successful learner. She is a Canadian Olympian who competes in an event called show jumping. She is the daughter of Ian Millar who is also a Canadian Olympian.  I haven’t seen her competing in real life, but I did watch her on T.V at the Rio Olympics in 2016. She is from Perth,Ontario, and she rides a horse named Heros.

One of the successful learner traits that I think she uses when she is competing is confidence. She shows calm and collected behavior when she is in the riding ring. She is always positive and proud of herself and her horse, no matter how good or bad they do.

Amy is also enthusiastic about riding and performing. She is always encouraging people on the Canadian team as well as people from around the world. When she is training for competitions she is coached by someone. She always has an open mind about what her coach says.

She also shows risk taking. I have noticed that she is a big risk taker. She has the guts to go in front of a huge panel of judges, and on top of that,a crowd of about 300-400 people (well,at the Olympics). Jumping that high is challenging. You really have to know what your doing. If you fall off from that height there is a very high change of breaking some bones.

I think that Heros, Amy’s horse, is compassionate and kind. He shows love to Amy. He is also collaborative because he has to understand a human that doesn’t speak fluent horse. He has to be patience because he has to travel the world a lot! Imagine not knowing where you are going and having to just load onto a plane. That must be pretty scary.

I think that Amy Millar is a great role model for anyoneeven if you don’t like horses. One day I would really like to meet her! Have you ever been taught successful learner traits? What successful learner trait most describes you?

Have a wonderful day,

Volleyball

2017 WVB | UofA vs TWU

Sangudo via Compfight

Hey readers,

I really enjoy volleyball and I’m on the girls volleyball team! Yesterday we had our first game of the season. We one won all three games (we think, no one was really keeping score). I was on the volleyball team last year and I had lots of fun so I signed  up again!

I’m really bad at spiking, but I’m trying to get better. I can bump and set really well and I’m also good at tipping the ball over the net. Volleyball knee pads are so helpful! They can help you dig the ball back up from the ground by falling on your knees or they can help you make a dive for the ball.

On practice day we get to practice our skills and do drills but we also get to play a quick scrimmage V.S the guys team because we share the gym with them for practice. Some times sometimes we do drills with them but most of the time we just practice with our team.

This year we have a way smaller team. Loads of the grade 7s from last year are now at high school and unable to play on our team. But there are quite a few people that were on the team last year that decided to join again. I think that gives the team a bit of an advantage because we have previous experience!

YAY today is a game day! I’m so excited to play against another school. This time we are playing one big game instead of 3 little games. Also we aren’t hosting the game.

Do you play any sports?

Have a wonderful day,

Horse Riding

Horseback Riding in Nosara, Costa Rica Chris Goldberg via Compfight

Hey readers,

I love horse riding! It’s one of my favourite things to do! Let me tell you a bit about horse riding.

I ride a horse named Sage shes a chestnut mare (in non-horsey words , she’s a brown female horse). She is a very tiny pony with a big attitude! If she doesn’t get what she wants she will get pretty mad. Her show name is Sugar and Spice Sage.

Sometimes I ride a horse named Cassie. She is also very sweet but she loves to jump really big! She is in her 20’s but still very active. Sometimes when we are jumping small she will over jump it. By over jumping it I mean she will jump way bigger than she needs to. But she is still fun to canter and trot on!  I love cantering! It’s one of my absolute favourite things to to in horse riding… besides jumping.

I have tried barrel racing once but I didn’t like as much as jumping. I have never really been a big fan of Western style riding. Jumping involves memorizing courses, body control and most important, trying to communicate with a half ton animal that doesn’t speak your language.

Something that I’m not quite excited for is November. At my barn we do this thing called no stirrup November 🙁 Absolutely everything is done with out stirrups. Jumping, posting, trot, and canter. I don’t like it because after the lesson it feels like you have done like 5000 sit ups and 100 squats. It involves lots of core strength.

I have most of my own stuff for riding, the only thing that I need to borrow from the barn is a bridle,  girth and a horse blanket.

Have you ever tried horse riding? Did you like it?

Have a wonderful day,

Camp Lessons

SWIIISSHHH I fly through the air! I had just finished the Leap of Faith at Tribune Bay. The classes from division 12 and  13 were at camp. The camp that every kid at Brooklyn Elementary is excited for. The camp with the most delicious food that could ever be tasted by the human mouths.
When people were kind to me at camp I felt very motivated to try something new and being kind helped encourage others to challenge themselves. If you were kind to your leader they would let you try more things . I feel like if you can be kind and caring you will build more trust with your leader. One situation that happened in my day group was that someone was unkind when doing the team building activities. That left an affect on that person which made them feel left out of the group. Another situation that happened was that someone was on the rock climbing wall and she felt like they couldn’t go any further but the whole group cheered her on to encourage her to go further.  Guess What! It worked she climbed further and further till she reached the top. Kindness really does help every one feel good about them selves and others.

On most of the climbing activities you needed to remember that all of the equipment was safe and secure. When the pole started to wiggle once you got further up the Leap of Faith you had to remember that it was perfectly safe. One of the hardest parts of all the activities was to remember that it is all in your head. For example: Remembering that you are in a harness, Telling your self that you won’t fall in the water when kayaking and last but not least remembering that your team is there for you when you are scared. Something that helped me was thinking why am I scared (because I am someone who is afraid of heights)Then when I was scared I could think about why they would they send kids to a camp that was unsafe and dangerous? After that it struck my brain! Everything is all in your head.
This is something that I would tell people that are going to camp BE PREPARED I was a bit silly and forgot to see what the weather was like. So I didn’t put on sunscreen. Once we got down to the beach I realized how hot it was. This left me with and issue… I got a really bad sun burn. It was one of those ones that sting to touch. This one has nothing to do with the activities that we did but it is still very important, it’s about sleeping. Bringing an  extra blanket was a really good idea because it doesn’t get a little chilly at night. Also bringing a warm pair of P.J’s was good. Bringing a watch is a GREAT idea. There’s was one person in our cabin with a watch so we hadn’t to keep asking her what time it is. It wouldn’t have been better it all of us had just brought our own watches. It was helpful for when we needed to see what time there wasn’t until breakfast. Over all watches would have been a good thing to pack

I would definitely recommend going to Tribune Bay. Always remember to not be afraid to try new thing .I think that there are some great lessons to learn at camp. Weather you taught your self them, another classmate or someone working at camp they were all very valuable. Do you think that people will remember these lessons from camp until they are adults?

Have a wonderful day,

My Trip to Victoria

Cherry Esplanade Keith Carver via Compfight

Hello readers,

This spring break I went to a place called Victoria! Victoria is the capital of British Columbia and it is almost at the very bottom of Vancouver Island. I went with one of my friends and my Dad. This is our day that we spent there!

On our way there we stopped in at this really amazing pit stop. It had a river running  through it and it had trees that 5 kids could barley rap their arms around it! It felt like you were in a huge rain forest with birds flying everywhere.

One of the first things that we did when we got to Victoria was visit China town! In China town there is a place called Fan Tan alley and in Fan Tan alley there is a store called The Never Ending Store. By the name of the store you can probably guess what it is like! It is one really long store that feels like it never ends. I didn’t buy any thing because I was too distracted by how big the store was! After that we visited a store called… I don’t actually remember what it was called but it had lots of touristy kind of stuff. My friend got a pair of trainer chop sticks. Trainer chop sticks have a little character at the top of them that holds both chop sticks together to make it easier to use. I bought one of my favourite foods Pockys. If you have never had a pocky you need to try one! It is a bread stick that is dipped in chocolate of your choice. There are to many flavors to list.

After being tourists and eating dinner at this really delicious place we chilled out in our hotel room for a bit.We stayed in a hotel the was right by the Victoria’s legislature. The legislature is on of my favourite things about Victoria! At night time it has lights that go all the way around the building. I wonder how many lights there are in total? Because this building is huge and when I say huge I mean HUGE. After sitting down in our hotel room and goofing around we got really bored so me and my friend sprinted down to the pool. We got out of the pool at 10:00 pm and we went out of our hotel in our P.J’s to go look at the lights on the legislature and run around. It looked like a place were unicorns and magical things live because it was so pretty!Doing that got a lot of energy out so we went back to our hotel. (We had so much energy we could have run around that building at least 10 times)

In the morning we woke up and had breakfast(it was sooooooooooooooo good) We had pancakes and bacon!! I love bacon it’s delicious. We didn’t know what to do because we had to check out if our hotel in 10 minuets so the worst idea struck us! My friend and I broke out into a pillow fight! The pillows went flying and we were bouncing from bed to bed! Then BANG!*!* Her mouth hit me head and now I have a very little indent on my forehead from her tooth. We checked out of our hotel room and started our drive back home. On our way back we stopped in at a mall in Nanimo and looked around a bit but other than that we didn’t do much else after that and was the end of my trip!

Have you ever heard about Victoria? Have you ever had a pocky?

Hope you enjoyed my blog post about my spring break trip!

Have a wonderful day,

I HAVE BEEN TRAPPED!

Do you want to know how I got trapped…..Do you? So it all started with me just minding my own business doing something that I do best. I was making people fall in love! I was flying around shooting my arrows when BANG! It was dark and scary. I saw a little beam of light come from the door that I must have flown in to. I peeked out the hole and I saw them. They were much bigger then I was and very loud. The three of them were just standing there talking. when I realized that they were humans. All these years I have just been doing my cupid thing and flying around to make people fall in love until now.  They have trapped me! Let me explain how it looks and how it works:

It is made out of  colorful bricks big and small. When I flew in I went through a door way with a flag on it called the love flag. The only reason I went in the trap was because the love flag. If you don’t know the love flag is a great way to attract me. Another good way to attract me is to get candy. This trap also had candy sooooo, I am now stuck. I saw briefly when I was flying in there was a camera I think that was what saw that I was going in. When the camera sees me  it set off the door to shut me in.

I wonder what they will do to me? Do you know?Do you have any suggestions on how I should escape?

Thank you for reading my post on Cupid!

Hope you have a wonderful Day

My Christmas Traditions!

smile if you love the snow Steve Wall via Compfight

Hi readers,

In my family we have a few traditions that have been running for who knows how long!

Some of them are are a bit strange (Like the pickle one) So here they are:

1) This one has been one of my personal favorites because we hide a pickle ornament in our Christmas tree! I have no clue how this one started and why we do it but it is really fun. One person is the hider and the others are seekers. The seekers go out of the room until the hider is ready. If you find the pickle then you are the hider. if the tree is bushier it’s harder to find.

2) Most people take a pictures on Christmas just like us. We take on photo that has been taken ever since we got our dog Dasher. On Christmas eve is when we take the photo. I got Dasher when I was 6 for Christmas and he is named after the reindeer. Dasher comes under the tree and lays down with me and then **SNAP** My mom takes our picture under the tree. It is really cool to see how much we have both grown up since we were little because we have a photo from every year.

3) Having an orange is healthy right? Well not with us… in our stockings we always get chocolate oranges. If you don’t know what a chocolate orange is it’s a chocolate that is shaped like a orange and tastes like one to. You can almost take it apart like an orange. My Mom absolutely LOVES them!

4)This isn’t really a tradition but we love to do it. My dog Dasher loves going for walks in the snow! when we go he rolls, jumps and frolics! He is a true snow dog. When we go for long walks his fur on his belly is long and it creates little snow balls that are frozen in to his fur. Then we spent like 15 minuets just tying to get them out.

5)It’s cold in winter so we need to keep warm…. We should light a fire! On Christmas morning when we are opening the gifts we put on the fireplace channel on T.V. Don’t ask me why.I really have no clue because we have a fireplace up stairs but we never light it. If you don’t know what it is it’s literally just a fireplace on T.V and if you are lucky you see someone put another log on or prod it with a stick to get the flame going more.

What is your favourite tradition of mine? What is your favourite tradition of yours?

Hope you have a wonderful holiday,

~Kayley<3

Zombie Off

17kayley-zombie-photo

For the last two days I have been trying to avoid it…… the zombie apocalypses. This morning I woke up worried , scared and hungry so I went to go make myself a bowl of cereal. I poured the cereal, added milk and last but not least reached for the spoon. I always use the biggest spoon but as I grabbed it **** AAAAAHHHH**** I see that  my own arm has been turned green!

I ran to my mirror and see that blood is streaming out of my mouth and my eyes are bloodshot. I realize that I have been infected by the zombies! But I know that it is a school day and I have to go to school.

My first idea is that I should just wear scarf, long sleeved clothes and a hat so no one will see my skin, but then I remembered the dress code. You can’t wear scarves and hats. Scratch that plan.

I rely on my good old friend Google to help me on this one. I Google search “how to cure a zombie virus” and it says to eat five rat eyeballs and two boiled worms. I think that I will pass on that one because it sounds gross. So I just decide to go to school and hope that no one realizes.

I park my bike at the bike racks and I see all my friends but I chose to just walk right by and ignore them. As I try to walk pass them some one yells, “KAYLEY WE ARE OVER HERE! So I walk over there and guess what? They were all zombies as well!

I just said nothing and carried on with my day. The weird part was that everyone was acting normally and pretending that no one was a zombie.

The bell rings to go home and as soon as I get home I turn on the t.v. to go to the news. It turns out that the doctors found out a way to cure the virus. It is just a special cream called Zombie-Off. This cream definitely works because everyone is normal now. The weird part is that none of the teachers got the virus….. Maybe it is a teacher super power?

Have a great day.
